Diggin’ Deep Details

We are excited to offer our Diggin’ Deep springtime organic gardening apprenticeship to help new and experienced gardeners gain greater experience and knowledge.

In 2011 we structured Diggin’ Deep as an organic gardening course; in 2013 we are transitioning the program toward an apprenticeship style learning opportunity.

2011 Topics Included:

Session I: Garden Design and Planning, New Bed Preparation, & Soil Fertility and Testing

Session II: Garden Math, Microclimates, & Seed Starting (Cold Frames and Greenhouses)

Session III: Cultivation and Weed Control, Monitoring Soil Conductivity, & Transplanting Techniques.

Session IV: Working Visit to YMCA – Sharing the Harvest Farm

Session V: Foliar Fertilizers, Irrigation, Soil Drenches, & Trellis Systems
